Taking a strict stand against the land mafia, goons and habitual criminals, in the anti-mafia campaign in the state, the state government has freed more than 15 thousand 397 acres of land which includes revenue, urban bodies and forest land in the last two years. Along with this, 6105 acres of private and other departments’ land have also been freed. The freed land costs Rs 18 thousand 146 crores. As many as 12 thousand 640 illegal constructions belonging to land mafia, goons and habitual criminals, including their houses, shops, godowns, marriage gardens, factories etc. were demolished and removed as per rules.
Presentation of anti mafia campaign
This information was given in a presentation of the Home Department before the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today. Shri Chouhan said that goons, mafia, habitual criminals should be wiped out from the soil of Madhya Pradesh. Strict action must be taken to free the general public from them, so that they either improve or leave Madhya Pradesh. No anti-social element will be tolerated in the state.
It was told that from April to December 2020, 3365.26 acres of land worth Rs 7864 crore, 3569.56 acres worth Rs 1588 crores in January-February 2021, 3840.24 acres worth Rs 539 crore in March to August 2021, 1810.8 acres worth Rs 721 crores in September and October 2021, 568.12 acres worth Rs 558 crores in November-December 2021 and 2243.79 acres of revenue, urban bodies and forest department land worth Rs 671 crores from January to March 2022 were freed.
Use of freed land
It was told that out of the land freed, 1820.13 acres of land is being taken for housing and other purposes, which are as follows -
Area allotted for housing construction - 159.32 acres.
Area under allotment process for housing construction - 75.85 acres.
Land allotted to Government Department/Agency for other purpose - 365.47 acres.
Land under process allotted to Government Department/Agency for other purpose – 940.56 acres.
Land registered for auction on the Portal of Public Asset Management Department - 29.48 acres.
Area assigned to parent department - 257.45 crore.
A total of 1828.13 acres of land is being used for housing and other purposes.
Action against illegal possesion
As many as 4.495 cases were registered in the state in the action taken against illegal possessions of land mafia, goons and habitual criminals from March 2021 to March 2022. Of these, 585 cases were registered by the Pdepartment, 2459 by the revenue department, 925 by the urban body, 47 by the forest department and 479 jointly against the land mafia.
Illegal encroachments that were demolished
In the anti-mafia campaign from March 2021 to March 2022, 9896 illegal encroachments were demolished, in which 370 were razed by police, 3359 by revenue, 3915 by urban bodies, two by forest department and 1650 illegal encroachments were broken by the joint departmental team. During this period, 8450.45 acres of land was freed from encroachment, the estimated cost of which is Rs.2490 crore. In the campaign, 188 persons were detained under NSA and 498 were arrested.
